The Chester Association of Property Professionals was delighted to host its inaugural Past Chairs Lunch, bringing together 19 former Chairs alongside current Chair Benjamin Thornley and Vice Chair Jayne Clarke MARLA.
The event marked a special moment in the Association’s history, celebrating the people whose leadership has helped shape CAPP into one of the region’s most respected professional organisations.
For many around the table, it was the first opportunity in years to reconnect. Conversations quickly turned to memorable events, changing markets and the evolution of the property profession. While much has changed over the decades, the shared commitment to professionalism, collaboration and supporting the Chester property community remains as strong as ever.
One of the afternoon’s highlights was reminiscing about the annual CAPP Dinner, once held in the iconic Manweb Ballroom on Sealand Road. These stories reminded everyone how important the Association has been in bringing people together, fostering friendships and strengthening professional relationships across the industry.
The lunch also provided an opportunity to celebrate a very special milestone. John Ashbrook recently turned 90, and although he was unable to attend in person, he was very much part of the afternoon. His colleagues shared countless stories reflecting his warmth, generosity and professionalism, recognising the lasting impact he has made on both CAPP and the local property sector.
As Immediate Past Chair, David Adams reflected on the occasion:
“Looking around the room, it was impossible not to feel proud of what CAPP has achieved over so many years. Every Chair has played a part in building the Association we enjoy today. Bringing everyone together to share stories, celebrate friendships and recognise those who have contributed so much felt incredibly special. It reminded us that while property continues to evolve, the values of professionalism, integrity and community remain at the heart of everything we do.”
The success of the afternoon has already sparked enthusiasm for making the Past Chairs Lunch an annual event. By celebrating its history while continuing to support today’s professionals, CAPP remains committed to strengthening the local property community for generations to come.
